Two Newcastle stars set to miss final six games but £20m man could return at Crystal Palace

The Mail’s Craig Hope has issued an update on the injury front, revealing some mixed news on Lewis Miley, Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier.

After revealing that Joe Willock (Achilles) will sit out the remainder of the season earlier this week, he’s reporting that Miley will also be given the final six games off in order to fully recover from a back injury.

The 17-year-old is ‘feeling good’ and has avoided any serious injury, but the club are keen to let the problem heal fully and aware that rushing him back while he’s still growing could cause issues.

Elsewhere, Callum Wilson is in contention to feature on the bench in next week’s trip to Crystal Palace after returning to training this week.

The striker has recovered from pectoral surgery and was filmed rejoining the group earlier this week, but it seems Kieran Trippier is taking a ‘little longer’ to recover from a calf problem and is likely to miss the Palace clash, as things stand.

Trippier has missed our last five league games since limping off in our 3-0 win over Wolves six weeks ago, but we should have Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall fit and available next week after the pair were back in the squad for our 4-0 win over Spurs.
