Liverpool in talks to appoint manager pushing to sign Newcastle talent – David Ornstein

The man who brought Yankuba Minteh to Feyenoord could be on his way to the Premier League this summer.

As revealed by The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Liverpool are in talks with the Dutch giants to appoint Arne Slot as Jurgen Klopp’s replacement ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Slot has played a key role in Minteh’s development this season, handing the 19-year-old regular starts in a campaign that’s seen him score 10 goals, play Champions League football and win the Dutch League Cup last weekend.

It’s unclear how Slot’s potential move to Liverpool would impact Minteh’s future amid reports of a second loan spell, but it’s believed the 45-year-old is their number one choice to replace Klopp at Anfield.

Ornstein reports that Slot is keen to land the job on Merseyside and the leading contender, with talks set to continue with the Eredivisie side as Liverpool look to strike an agreement.

Slot: "Minteh is enorm populair bij zijn teamgenoten"
