Saudis set to target two Newcastle United players this summer – Report

According to the i, Saudi Pro League sides are lining up summer moves for Miguel Almiron and Martin Dubravka.

Mark Douglas reports that Al-Shabab are expected to reignite their interest in Almiron after the Paraguayan was made a ‘priority target’ in January.

In the end, he opted to stay, but the 30-year-old is one of the first-team players who could be moved on this summer to help us manage the FFP restrictions that limited our spending in the previous transfer window.

As for Dubravka, Douglas reveals that the Slovakian is ‘edging towards the exit door.’ He’s received early interest from Saudi Arabia and is out of contract next summer, leaving Newcastle likely to cash in while they can.
The club are scouting replacements for the 35-year-old – Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has been watched – and there’s a feeling Dubravka has not done enough to earn a new deal. Not only that, he’s unlikely to stay as back-up for Nick Pope once our number one returns from a shoulder injury.

  1. The Almiron deal was agreed at £30m and his previous club would have got a percentage of that so we would have ended up with about £25m.
I would hope that deal goes through in this window as we have Minteh available to replace him.

  2. Now there’s a happy coincidence.
2 players who, if everyone was fit, would not be first pick, wanted by the Saudis.
Even I would be suspicious about that.

  3. Daveys****mate :-
There is so much corruption in football who would care about a Saudi deal other than those who are corrupt themselves.
