Last month, reports in Italy claimed Newcastle United had joined the race to sign Juventus’ highly-rated centre-back Dean Huijsen.
A few weeks later, the same outlet – Gazzetta dello Sport – report that ourselves and Borussia Dortmund could be set to go head to head for the 19-year-old’s signature this summer.
They are reporting that both clubs are considering a €30m (roughly £25m) bid for the 6ft 5′ defender, who has spent the 2023/24 season on loan with Roma.
Huijsen has impressed during his time at the Stadio Olimpico, but Juventus are expected to sell some of their young assets returning from successful loan spell this summer, with the Serie A giants needing to raise funds to avoid financial trouble.
The Dutch-born centre-back represents Spain at U21 level and has received praise for his deceptive pace and quality in possession, with this showcased perfectly by this brilliant goal scored earlier this year:
