Gordon joins elite group and Howe close to record – 7 brilliant Newcastle United stats

It was a weekend full of positives for Newcastle United, who not only won away from home but ran riot in a convincing 4-1 win at Burnley to send us up to sixth.

Here’s seven brilliant stats to emerge, featuring Anthony Gordon, Eddie Howe’s entertainers, Callum Wilson and more:

  • Anthony Gordon delivered his 10th assist of the league season on Saturday, meaning he’s joined an elite group of Premier League wingers to reach double figures for goals and assists in a single 38-game season. Since 2010, only Salah, Son, Hazard, Saka, Bale, Mahrez, Sane, Sterling and Bowen have achieved the ‘double double.’ Gordon also won his seventh penalty in all competitions on Saturday and his sixth in the league (two off a Premier League record).
  • Eddie Howe now has 49 wins in 100 Premier League games for Newcastle. Kevin Keegan (55) is our only manager to have more wins in their first 100 top-flight games.
  • With 78 goals in 35 games, we’ve set a new club record for a 38-game season. We now need five goals in our remaining three games to set a record for the most goals scored in a Premier League season, with Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle scoring 82 in 42 games in 1993/94.
  •  In all competitions, Newcastle have now scored three or more goals in a match on 16 occasions this season!
  • Newcastle have also scored at least four goals in nine different league games this season. The last time we matched that was during the 1951-52 season!
  •  Alexander Isak has become the first Newcastle player in 20 years to reach 20 league goals. This was last achieved by Alan Shearer during the 2023/24 campaign.
  • Callum Wilson is now Newcastle United’s second highest scorer in the Premier League history with 47 goals – went above Peter Beardsley on Saturday. Fair to say he won’t be catching Shearer but shows how prolific he’s been when fit + such a top signing at £20m
