Newcastle reignite interest in £60m Crystal Palace star – The dream summer signing?

According to The Mail, Newcastle have reignited their interest in Michael Olise ahead of the summer transfer window.

The silky wide man did us a huge favour last night, scoring twice in Crystal Palace’s 4-0 win over Man Utd, and it’s claimed we have been tracking the 22-year-old since his days at Reading.

The club are in the market for a new right winger this summer and he would be an exciting addition. He has nine goals and four assists in just 17 appearances this season and has a release clause in the region of £60m in his Palace contract.

It’s believed Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool are all big admirers of the France U21 international, but The Mail report that our push for Europe and ambitious project could convince him to sign at St James’ Park.

Interestingly, it’s also hoped our pursuit of Palace’s Dougie Freedman – the man who brought Olise to Selhurst Park – could help attract the winger should the Scot become our new sporting director.

It’ll be tough to sign Olise given the level of competition we’re likely to face this summer, but he would be a top class signing and an ideal addition to the right-hand side of our attack. A front three of Gordon, Isak and Olise would be something else!

  1. It’s his injury record this season that worries me especially if your paying 60 million if he can stay fit he would be a good signing that’s if we are interested in him
