Projected Europa League pots – Who Newcastle could face if we beat Chelsea & Man Utd to 6th

With just three games left to play this season, Newcastle are on track to finish in a Europa League spot should they finish ahead of Man United and Chelsea in sixth.

As 2023/24 campaigns draw to a close all across Europe, projected pots have emerged to show who we could be up against should we qualify for the Europa League.

See the four projected pots below, which are based on current league positions across the likes of Italy, Spain, Germany and England:

As things stand, we’d be in pot three – secured by sixth place in the Premier League or the FA Cup winners – and could face the likes of Roma, Porto or Ajax (pot one), Salzburg, Real Sociedad or Braga (pot two) and Nice, Anderlecht or Panathanaikos (pot four).

Based on the current projections, we’d be the side so many European rivals would want to avoid when the draw for the group phase is made, just like last year in the Champions League.

We’re getting slightly ahead of ourselves, but we could give our European hopes a huge boost this weekend with a win over Brighton, especially when Man Utd face a tricky home clash with title-chasing Arsenal on Sunday. Chelsea are another contender and travel to Nottingham Forest.
