Newcastle considering former Chelsea star – Player keen on Premier League return – Report

As reported by Graeme Bailey at HITC, Newcastle are keeping tabs on Roma striker Tammy Abraham who is open to returning to the Premier League this summer.

The Magpies are preparing for the potential departure of Callum Wilson to fund their summer transfers and will need to find a reliable replacement to support Alexander Isak next year.

Abraham has missed the majority of this season due to an ACL injury but recently made his return and played in all of Roma’s last five games in Serie A, scoring one goal against Napoli.

The 26-year-old scored 30 goals in 82 appearances for Chelsea and hasn’t been quite as prolific as Wilson (when fit), but he’s younger, more mobile and appears hungry to reignite his Premier League career and force his way back into the national team.

Newcastle are not the only potential suitors, however, with West Ham, Bournemouth, Leicester and Crystal Palace also thought to be tracking the striker Rafa Benitez once tried to sign on loan before he ended up at Swansea.

If we’re looking for a striker who can compete with Isak, offer Premier League experience and arrive with potential for growth and a point to prove, Abraham could be a wise signing and considerably cheaper than the likes of Dominc Solanke.
