Brighton star suffers injury on Friday – 10 players now at risk of missing Newcastle trip

Brighton’s injury woes have gone from bad to worse on the eve of their trip to St James’ Park, with Roberto De Zerbi revealing that Joao Pedro is now a major doubt for tomorrow’s game.

The Italian has revealed that their top scorer suffered an ankle injury in training today, admitting it’s “sad news” that leaves them unsure if he’ll be fit to travel.

Pedro was targeted by Newcastle prior to his move to The Amex and has been one of their standout players this season, scoring 20 goals in all competitions for the Seagulls.

Speaking to the media just moments ago, he said: “Joao Pedro has an ankle problem. It’s sad news for us. Today it happened and I don’t know if he can play tomorrow.”

Tariq Lamptey may return to their squad on Tyneside, but they have a long list of players out with Mitoma (back), March (knee), Estupinan (ankle) Hinshelwood (foot), Ferguson (ankle), Van Hecke (muscle), Milner (hamstring) and Lallana (unspecified) all set to miss out.
