Bruno Guimaraes has been called up to the Brazil side for this summer’s Copa America, but Joelinton is one of several Premier League stars set to miss out.
While Bruno has made the cut alongside the likes of Gabriel, Lucas Paqueta, Raphinha and Vinicius Junior, Joelinton has not been selected along with Man Utd’s Casemiro, Tottenham’s Richarlison and Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus.
The tournament will take place in the United States from Thursday June 20th to Saturday 14th July, with Bruno set to face Paraguay star and Toon teammate Miguel Almiron in Group D.
A real shame for Joelinton, but the fact he’s barely kicked a ball since groin surgery in January has scuppered his hopes of a call-up, despite impressing in debut appearances last year.
Brazil squad: Alisson, Ederson, Bento – Danilo, Yan Couto – Beraldo, Militão, Gabriel Magalhães, Marquinhos – Arana, Wendell – A Pereira, B.Guimarães, .D. Luiz, J. Gomes, Paquetá – Endrick, Evanílson, Martinelli, Raphinha, Rodrygo, Savinho, Vinicius Jr.
With the best will in the world, you seriously think Brazil would call up somebody like Joelinton – the water carrier’s water carrier? Would be like the RSC saying they want Roy Cropper from Corrie (or some such) to appear n there next production of Hamlet.

They did before his injury and he was brilliant. He’d be in if it wasn’t for him missing out since January after his op.
Bizarre argument when Andreas Perreira – a Man Utd reject doing well at Fulham – has got in.

Funny how the best Hamlet I have ever seen at the RSC starred Paapa Essiedu who at 26 was had been part of the RSC company and was his first starring role. So what’s your point exactly?
