Paul Merson and Chris Sutton release Newcastle vs Brighton predictions

Paul Merson and Chris Sutton are both backing Newcastle United to beat Brighton comfortably ahead of our final home game of 2023/24.

Sky pundit Merson thinks we're on course to finish the season strongly and believes we'll win this one 3-0, despite Brighton's 1-0 win over Aston Villa last weekend.

In his piece for the BBC, Sutton feels the likes of Isak, Wilson, Gordon and Bruno will be too much for the Seagulls after watching us at Turf Moor last weekend. He backs us to come away 3-1 winners. Here's what both have had to say:

Paul Merson (Sportskeeda) - “Brighton got a great result against Aston Villa, but Newcastle are on a bit of a run and look well set to finish the season on a positive note. I fancy them to carry on, so I’m going for a big home win here.” (Prediction: Newcastle 3-0 Brighton)

Chris Sutton (BBC) - "I watched Newcastle at Turf Moor last week and their twin-pronged attack of Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak took Burnley apart. Wilson was phenomenal on the day and Isak has been excellent all season, while Anthony Gordon looked sharp for the Magpies too, and Bruno Guimaraes was running midfield.

"It was important for Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi that his side got back to winning ways against Aston Villa, but it is hard to see them getting anything here.I always felt that finishing the season strongly was a really big deal for Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, and his side are flying at the moment." (Prediction: Newcastle 3-1 Brighton) 

Hopefully both are right and we pile the pressure on Chelsea and Man Utd. The Blues face a trip to Nottingham Forest in today's 5.30pm kick-off, while the Red Devils take on Arsenal at Old Trafford tomorrow.
