Mark Douglas has released an ‘exclusive’ for iNews on the Newcastle United transfer front, revealing that the club are in talks with Valencia over the signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili.
He reveals that the 23-year-old stopper is a ‘long-term’ Toon target and is keen on a move to the Premier League, opening the door to a summer switch to St James’ Park if we agree to pay the La Liga side’s £30m asking price.
Douglas reports that we’re yet to submit a formal offer, but sources in Spain suggest a bid will arrive in the ‘coming weeks.’ Interestingly, the same piece reveals that we do like Aaron Ramsdale, however, are reluctant to hand Arsenal cash that could ease their PSR concerns and fund a £100 move for Bruno Guimaraes.
Elsewhere, iNews are the latest outlet to all but confirm the signing of Lloyd Kelly, adding that Newcastle have fought off late interest from Spurs to land the versatile Bournemouth defender who looks set to arrive on a free transfer. It’s also claimed “concrete progress” has been made on a deal for Tosin Adarabioyo this week, with Newcastle expecting to beat Man Utd to the Fulham centre-back after acting faster than the Red Devils to land the 26-year-old.
