Newcastle’s pursuit of Dominic Calvert-Lewin hits potential stumbling block – Report

Newcastle’s pursuit of Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks to have it a stumbling block as Everton have opened talks with the striker, according to TEAMTalk.

It looks very likely that Callum Wilson will be sold this summer with just one year left on his current deal leaving Alexander Isak as the only out and out striker at the club.

The Magpies had identified Calvert-Lewin as a possible replacement for the former Bournemouth man to play backup to Isak next season.

However, Everton, despite needing to sell players to help their financial troubles, are hoping to keep hold of the England international and are willing to offer him a new contract.

Newcastle could soon be forced to look elsewhere, but in today’s market it will certainly be difficult to find a solid player who is happy to accept he won’t be starting most games.

  1. Calvert letwin last played for England almost 4 years ago.. he scored 14 goals in the last three seasons .. he is always injured .. if Callum goes this is not an equal replacement … media talk

  2. For me, a definite no on this one…..
He’s more injury prone than Callum Wilson! I’d rather see us invest in a young understudy type of player..
