Newcastle set transfer deadline along with Chelsea, Aston Villa & three others - Sky Sports
Sky Sports are reporting that Newcastle are one of SIX Premier League clubs needing to sell players before the end of June in order to comply with the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules.
According to their 'breaking' news this afternoon, the six clubs include Newcastle, Chelsea (shock horror), Aston Villa, Everton, Nottingham Forest and newly-promoted Leicester City.
June 30th represents the final day of the financial year and has been viewed as a 'mini deadline' for clubs who must sell to ensure they fall within the PSR limit for 2023/24.
While exact figures are not made clear by Sky Sports, recent analysis suggests Newcastle must bridge a gap in the region of £10-20m, which may explain why the club could look to move on the likes of Miguel Almiron and/or Callum Wilson.
Nonetheless, it's more proof that the current FFP/PSR model is flawed, with clubs like Newcastle United and Aston Villa being punished for showing ambition in recent transfer windows.
