According to The Mirror, Newcastle are considering a move for Kelechi Iheanacho following his exit at Leicester City.
The Nigerian international is set to leave the Foxes when his contract expires on June 30th, leaving him without a club and free to sign elsewhere following his release.
Iheanacho bagged six goals and three assists last season but was often overlooked by former boss Enzo Maresca, who only handed the 27-year-old 10 starts in the second tier.
The former Man City forward has netted 42 goals and 25 assists in 196 Premier League appearances. His lack of game time at Leicester and recent release raises questions, but he’s five years younger than Callum Wilson and could be a decent squad player if brought in to compete with Alexander Isak and another incoming striker?
It’s also worth noting that he’s represented by ROGON; the same agency that looks after Joelinton. That may be irrelevant if talk of our interest is false, but could come in handy if we are considering a free transfer.
If he’s signed along with another young forward, would you take Iheanacho?
No, not if he can’t make it in the Championship…

You have to wonder what’s gone on if he’s being overlooked in the Championship, but he’s still only 27 and has 67 goal involvements in 196 PL games.
I’m not saying we should go for him, but it may not be the worst move if he was our third choice striker.

I would take him even if we kept Wilson and Isak

Newcastle should go for ihenacho for he is a proven premier league striker with experience, surely he will be a good addition to the newcastle team.

We should take him.He was good a while ago and could do well for Eddie. If it doesn’t work then he can be sold on. A good signing for free.
