Newcastle in talks over historic deal and face big decision on seven Mags – Report

Alexander Isak could be about to become one of the highest paid players in Newcastle United history.

As revealed by Mark Douglas at the i, initial talks have taken place the Swedish star’s representatives over a new deal, with the club eager to end any speculation over a potential summer move and reward his superb performances over the 2023/24 season.

The report states that Newcastle view him as ‘priceless’ to the current project and club insiders have issued a “no chance” message to Arsenal; his ‘most interested’ suitor heading into the summer window.

Newcastle believe he can become ‘the best forward in the world’ and are prepared to reflect that in his new contract, providing he does commit beyond 2028 after signing a six-year deal as our club record arrival in 2022.

On the subject of new deals, Newcastle have big decision to make on SEVEN players currently out of contract next summer, with Callum Wilson, Fabian Schar, Dan Burn, Kieran Trippier, Martin Dubravka, Emil Krafth and Jamaal Lascelles all entering the final 12 months of their deals

Some of the above are key members of the current squad, but iNews believe a number of those players could be moved on to help us reach the ‘next stage’ of this ambitious project under Saudi ownership.

My guess would be that Wilson and Dubravka leave this summer, with Trippier, Krafth and Lascelles seeming unlikely to stay more than another season. Schar and Burn could earn new deals and revert to squad players in time, but what would be my hunch on the seven out-of-contract in 2025.
