Newcastle set for talks with €25m striker after Euro 2024 – Report

Newcastle United have been once again linked with a summer move for highly-rated Besiktas attacker Semih Kılıçsoy.

Turkish outlet Aksam report that Newcastle and Spurs are expected to hold talks with the Super Lig giants after Euro 2024, with the 18-year-old striker set to represent Turkey at this summer’s European Championships.

The report states that he’s valued at around €25m and has also attracted interest from Man Utd and Arsenal, but ourselves and Spurs are named as the two clubs prepared to actively pursue the teenager after the Euros.

Kılıçsoy has enjoyed an impressive season over in the Turkish division, ending the 2023/24 season with 11 goals and three assists in 23 games in an otherwise disappointing campaign for Besiktas, who finished sixth.

This isn’t the first time he’s been linked, as HITC’s Graeme Bailey reported that we enquired about the teenager last month.

With a contract lasting until 2028 it gives Besiktas a bit of an advantage in negotiations, but it’ll be interesting to see how he gets on over the Euros and perhaps one to watch over the coming months, with Newcastle likely to sign an experienced back-up option and young forward if Callum Wilson leaves this summer.

  1. Anybody else cringe when they hear “we’re going to talk to him after the Euros”?
If he’s **** in the Euros we won’t want him, if he plays well his price goes up.
Bit of a no win .
