Martin Dubravka admits he ‘doesn’t care what happens’ when asked about his future at Newcastle and links with a potential summer move away.
The 35-year-old stopper is out of contract next summer and could become third in the pecking order at Newcastle United if James Trafford joins current No.1 Nick Pope on Tyneside.
Dubravka has been linked with a move to Celtic this week and also has reported interest from Saudi Arabia and unnamed clubs in Europe, but offered a very blasé stance on his future when discussing a potential move away while on international duty with Slovakia ahead of Euro 2024.
Speaking to SportNet, he said: “It’s hard for me to comment on that, because I get information from the newspaper about who we are signing.
“If I’m honest, I don’t care what happens anymore. I defended my place and did my best for the club. If they decide to bring someone else, I won’t influence it anymore. This is going on aside at the moment, I’m trying to concentrate on the national team now. I leave the rest out of my head.”
Asked about the Celtic links, he added: “I would not like to comment on that, because I am mentally set for the national team. However, I am aware of various noises.
“Team-mates do ask me about it, agents call me. Yes, there is some truth to that. There was something true about that last year as well. But you see, I stayed at Newcastle United.
“If there is no official offer on the table, I don’t deal with it. That’s how I took it even when I was still in Sparta. At the moment, everything is only in the noise stage.”

I guess he was interviewed by his national media given the link in the article, so it’d be interesting to see if that translation is accurate.
If it is he sounds p155ed off so conclusion is to reinforce the sense he’s on his way.
Just hope the recency bias against him doesn’t detract from fans wishing him well, given his contribution esp’ pre-takeover, when he does depart

Yeah – suspect there’s a bit of a “lost in translation” slant about this.
Maybe intended more as “I’m not thinking about it” as he’s concentrating on the internationals.
I personally think that Dubs gets a bit of a raw deal. Pope runs out of the box an poleaxes someone for a red and it’s pretty much forgotten instantly and Dubravka gets labelled as hopeless because he’s slow to go down when a ball comes through 5 defenders.
A lot of it is garbage spewed by ignorant journos who know nothing about goalkeeping, then there’s the “Pope” effect. Pope plays in a particular way so Dubravka gets criticised because he’s not the same.
Plus Dubravka’s job was made all the more difficult by injuries to defenders.
Personally I’ll be sorry to see him go.
