Newcastle make Michael Olise move – David Ornstein update on Crystal Palace star

Some exciting claims have emerged from The Athletic’s main man David Ornstein in the last few moments, revealing that Newcastle United have stepped up their interest in Michael Olise.

Ornstein reports that Newcastle made contact with Crystal Palace on Wednesday over a potential deal for the 22-year-old winger who has a release clause in the region of £60m in his current contract.

However, the same piece reveals two other clubs who have also contacted Palace over a potential deal, with Chelsea and Bayern Munich also showing serious interest.

It’s believed Chelsea – who only made their approach today – have made it clear they are prepared to pay the winger’s release clause and have asked for permission to speak with Olise’s representatives.

The Athletic confirm that Manchester United and Manchester City also retain a ‘strong interest’ in the former Reading talent, but it seems they are yet to reach out to Crystal Palace.

It’s exciting to hear Newcastle are in the mix and targeting such a top right winger, but it will be a tough deal to secure given the level of interest and fact we are currently unable to offer Olise European football.

  1. This would be some signing, imagine a front 3 of Gordon, Isak and Olise mouth watering for us fans and absolutely terrifying for opposition defenders

  2. Not going to happen. No money to spend and can’t see getting much for Miggy or Targett. Possibly Longstaff though.

  3. Why all these links to top players, building supporters hopes up only to leave them frustrated? Let people know when a player has been signed!
