'I'd love him' - Newcastle star urges Toon to sign £65m man during talkSPORT interview

Anthony Gordon has urged Newcastle United to make a move for Three Lions teammate Marc Guehi, admitting he would "love" to see Toon chiefs pursue the Crystal Palace centre-back.

Speaking to talkSPORT ahead of England's clash with Denmark tomorrow, the winger was asked about reports linking us with the defender, who is thought to be valued at a whopping £65m by the Eagles.

Gordon hailed his "unbelievable" display in Sunday's 1-0 win over Serbia and described the 23-year-old as a "top, top player" who "would make us a better team."

“He is top. He’s such a good player," Gordon said. "I was glad the nation got to see him shine on that stage because he is such a lovely guy and he deserves what is coming to him.

“I thought he was unbelievable in that game, considering his height compared to the strikers they had on. He won every header, he was aggressive, intercepting loads, and his main strength is his composure on the ball, he’s like a midfielder, so him and Stones at the back is a great partnership.

“I haven’t seen the Newcastle links but it goes without saying I would love him to come, as I think he’s a top, top player and he would make us a better team.”

Guehi's right-footed, has pace, Premier League experience and his best years ahead of him, but a huge chunk of our summer budget would be required to bring him to St James' Park this summer. Watch Gordon's interview in full below:
