Newcastle launch shock bid for Premier League defender – Report

Some surprise claims have emerged from The Telegraph this afternoon regarding a player-plus-cash bid for Wolves centre-back Max Kilman.

Midlands reporter John Percy reports that Newcastle have offered a part-exchange deal that includes Elliot Anderson plus cash. However, it’s understood that Wolve have rejected the proposal amid growing interest in the defender.

It’s thought this offer is of ‘no interest’ to Wolves, who rejected a £25m bid on Friday from West Ham as Julen Lopetegui looks to be reunited with the centre-back he worked with at Molieux.

The Telegraph state that Eddie Howe is reluctant to lose Anderson, but the Geordie talent was used as a makeweight in our initial offer that has been rejected over the past 24 hours, with Kilman valued at £40m.

Kilman, 27, didn’t miss a single minute for Wolves last season and is thought to be on Man Utd’s list of centre-back options, with the 6ft 4′ skipper subject to a £30m bid from Napoli last summer.

  1. Nah there’s no way I believe this. West ham already had a bid rejected so, with apparent PSR issues, we’re going to enter a bidding war and offer a talented academy player? Oh and its for a position we’ve already strengthened.
    I just can’t buy this

  2. These rumors are so funny, but may well be a strategy of the agents stirring the pot only. All the true big deals in the last two years were jumping out from the middle of nowhere. There should be no concern at all.

  3. Olly,
Your site is so crowded with ads it’s almost unreadable.
I appreciate that you have to make a living, but it has to be readable.
