Sky Sports: £40m talks collapse - Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Yankuba Minteh deals off

According to reports this afternoon, Dominic Calvert-Lewin's proposed move from Everton to Newcastle United is now off - and it seems Yankuba Minteh won't be going in the opposite direction.

Sky Sports' Keith Downie reports that talks were taking place between the two clubs, but the Toffees were demanding £40m for the striker, which has seen Newcastle end their interest.

Downie adds that Minteh is now 'very unlikely' to end up at Goodison Park, with Everton's pursuit of the Gambian likely relying on a big-money exit for Calvert-Lewin. Instead, Lyon are emerging as real contenders to sign the winger following 'strong interest' in recent days.

Calvert-Lewin mat have improved under Eddie Howe - a manager who has improved so many since arriving on Tyneside - but he's had fitness issues, is out of contract next summer and has only managed 14 league goals over the past three seasons. As a result, it's no wonder we've walked away if Everton wanted £35-£40m.
