Sky Sports: Chelsea return for Alexander Isak – Friday night smokescreen from Newcastle?

According to Sky Sports’ Keith Downie, Chelsea have been back in contact with Newcastle United today over a potential move for Alexander Isak.

The Mail’s Craig Hope revealed earlier this week that the Blues had ‘enquired’ about the Swede, who would command a Premier League record fee after a stunning 25-goal season at St James’ Park.

Since then, reports have suggested that the striker is NOT for sale and a huge part of our plans, but it seems Chelsea are continuing to try their luck as Newcastle explore a much-needed sale before the PSR deadline on June 30th.

I can’t help but wonder if this is a smokescreen from Newcastle before we sell Yankuba Minteh. Selling the Gambian would not go down well amongst the fanbase, as we’re yet to see the exciting winger in a black and white shirt, but losing the 19-year-old may appear more palatable if it’s him over our top scorer and star man in attack?

Call me a cynic, but the timing of these Isak claims could be used to misdirect and ‘soften the blow’ if we’re preparing to sell Minteh on the cheap to a Premier League rival over the final 48 hours of this PSR window. Brighton, perhaps?

  1. It’s probably another swap deal, I really think they are going to tempt us into a swap deal with their kit man, secretary, and groundsman plus cash bot sign Isla.

  2. More nonsense .. Newcastle don’t have to sell unless anyone reporting this **** has evidence .. nope thought not

  3. Yeah we desperately need to sell our top scorer to save us getting a 6 point penalty that’s then reduced to 4.
