It’s PSR ‘deadline day’ and it’s emerged that Newcastle United have agreed a fee in the region of £35m for Elliot Anderson, who looks set to join Nottingham Forest.
A hefty fee for the 21-year-old, but that’s not all, as it’s believed a Nottingham Forest player is set to come in the opposite direction – and it could be 30-year-old goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos.
It’s expected to be a separate deal to Anderson’s £35m switch to the City Ground, with this following Yankuba Minteh’s £33m switch to Brighton, but The Mail’s Craig Hope reports that a mystery Forest player is set to arrive at St James’ Park today.
Back to Vlachodimos, he is the name doing the rounds and could arrive to replace Loris Karius. Newcastle scouts watched the Greek international previously during his time at Benfica and we’re in need of greater depth between the sticks, with Martin Dubravka expected to follow Karius out of the exit door after Euro 2024.
Morgan Gibbs-White, Anthony Elanga and Murillo have all been linked, , but all three would cost big money and it’s thought Forest are not under major pressure to secure a big sale after moving on a Mangala and Niakhate to Lyon for decent fees this week.
🚨 The fee for Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest is around £35m & I understand a Forest player is set to come in opposite direction #nufc #nffc
