Newcastle United have added Lille striker Jonathan David to their list of summer targets and are prioritising the arrival of three first-team signings, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
After a manic final few days of June – where Newcastle were rushing to make sales prior to the PSR deadline – all has gone quiet on the transfer front recently.
However, the club are preparing key moves for a right-winger, striker (to replace Callum Wilson) and centre-back, with Paul Mitchell expected to support our summer transfer plans following his appointment as Sporting Director.
Jacobs reports that we’ve enquired about David’s availability after walking away from Dominic Calvert-Lewin talks and been told the Canadian is available for around £25m, with Spurs and Chelsea also keen on the attacker who netted 26 times in 47 games across all competitions last season.
The toughest part of negotiations will no doubt be asking him to compete with Alexander Isak – one of our first names on the team sheet – but he could be tempted by a move to the Premier League following several seasons in France.

If we can then get him, but they’ve just agreed to sell their CB to MU so unless they’re strapped for cash they won’t be in a hurry to sell

They don’t have a choice, he’s got 1 year on his contract and looking to move.
