According to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham have made an opening offer to sign Crysencio Summerville; the Leeds star who has been linked with Newcastle United this summer.
Reports from both The Athletic and The Telegraph have outlined our interest in Summerville in recent months, with both revealing that the winger’s name has been discussed in recruitment meetings behind the scenes.
However, Romano reports that West Ham have made their move for the 22-year-old and submitted an ‘initial proposal’ to Leeds. It’s ‘still not close’ at this stage and considered a ‘very expensive’ deal, while AS Roma are also waiting in the wings if they fail to sign another Toon-linked winger in Matias Soule.
Summerville enjoyed a stellar campaign in the Championship last season, bagging 19 goals and nine assists over 43 appearances. Leeds fell short of promotion and a move for the wide man looks increasingly likely.
With Newcastle still seeking a quality right winger ahead of the new Premier League season, the club’s recruitment team may well be looking elsewhere, especially when the majority of his minutes in England have come down the left. Whilst Summerville would have been seen as a solid reinforcement for Eddie Howe’s side, there is optimism that the club is aiming higher.
Never were and never will be in for him for this reason, Position: Left Winger

Has been discussed in recruitment meetings, say The Athletic and Telegraph.
Don’t think he’ll sign though and we say in the piece that he’s a left-winger by trade.

Don’t always believe what’s in the press Olly we are well stocked in the LW position and the only way I could see us wanting another is if it was a massive upgrade on what we have and he is far from that.
Put it this way I would be amazed if we did, it’s just the usual name doing the rounds by certain journos
Porkpie(Quote)
Also are the guys from the Athletic and telegraph privy to these recruitment meetings…… Nope didn’t think so just pure speculation then 😋
Porkpie(Quote)
If we have an article about every player the press has linked us with and another when it turns out we aren’t getting them then we’ll be knackered reading articles
premandup(Quote)
I mean, come on… 😆
They won’t know everything but it’s their job to know what (in part) is going on behind the scenes.
Olly Hawkins(Quote)
Not my article in fairness, but read the last line of it.
Sam mentions the fact he’s A) more of a left winger (although can play on right) and B ) that we’re likely to aim higher.
Olly Hawkins(Quote)
Well we have about 10 keepers may as well have 10 left wingers as well hey
Maxp(Quote)
i mean come on like i said they aren’t privy to it so it’s speculation look at your Gordon article not many if any of them right on that situation was there despite knowing (in part) what was going on
Porkpie(Quote)
that’s called the get out
Porkpie(Quote)
Villa can get their act together quickly regards transfers and they had similar psr issues to us.
We are squabbling about who will get on with who when the three areas we need strengthening urgently, a right winger, right Centre back and a forward to cover for Isak seem to be a less urgent than they should be.

You’ve lost me now mate.
Newcastle have been linked with Summerville by reputable outlets
West Ham have made a bid – not a big story but worth sharing if he’s a target
Sam shares his opinion in piece that we should aim higher and he’s better on LW
Not sure what the issue is.
Olly Hawkins(Quote)
there isn’t one, you’re making into one people are allowed to have a different opinion always seems to be about ego if someone disagrees with you you take it like a personal attack lmao.
as for reputable outlets that’s up for discussion and even if they are it doesn’t mean they are right
so you’ve never heard of a get out clause, you’re just playing dumb now.
the get out for them is push the link get the clicks then when it’s a load of rubbish just refer to the get out clause which in this case is he states he’s a left winger and we’re likely to aim higher
Porkpie(Quote)
Ask yourself this if he says he doubts we’ll be signing him because he’s a left winger and we’re likely to aim higher then why post the rumour in the first place
Porkpie(Quote)
you’ve grabbed the wrong end of the stick i’m talking about Fabrizio Romano and the guys from the The Athletic and The Telegraph i thought you knew this so found it odd how you were defending them i have no issue with Sam at all the fact i mentioned them in my first post as well sort of points that out
