According to reports this morning, Newcastle United have made a move for Fiorentina’s right-winger Nicolás González.
This comes from Viola News, an Italian dedicated to Fiorentina who report that Newcastle launched a bid for the 26-year-old Argentine a ‘few days ago’ via intermediaries.
There’s no mention of the fee offered, but their piece does state that our bid is lower than the €43m (£36m) proposal received from Brentford last summer and is likely to be turned don by the Serie A side.
La Nazione (another Italian outlet) also report that our opening offer ‘is the starting point’ and state that we hope to sell Miguel Almiron to raise funds that could aid our pursuit of González; a fellow South American who featured for Argentina at Copa American this summer.
Who knows if these new reports from Italy carry much truth, but he would tick a few boxes as a goalscoring right-winger who works hard, is good in the air and has scored 30 goals over the past two seasons after several impressive years at Fiorentina.

I hope this is true. He looks to be exactly what we need. Here are his stats off macro football. Obviously they dont reveal everything about the player but I trust in our recruitment team to target players that they feel would add to our squad.
