Newcastle agree fee to sign midfield talent Rory Finneran – Story now confirmed

Newcastle have agreed a fee with Blackburn Rovers to sign Irish teenager Rory Finneran.
We revealed back in May that Newcastle were closing in on a deal for the young midfielder and Fabrizio Romano has now announced that a verbal agreement is in place for the captain of the Irish Under-17 squad.
Finneran is expected to sign his contract with the club today and is ‘considered a huge talent’, with Newcastle fending off interest from a host of clubs in Germany and England to land the Championship wonderkid.
Despite just turning 16 a matter of months ago, Finneran appeared seven times for Blackburn’s Under 21s in the Premier League 2 last season. Alongside this, the young midfield talent has represented his country at Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 level.
Finneran is most known in English football to this point for making his senior debut against Cambridge United in last season’s FA Cup at just 15 years old. In doing so, he became Blackburn’s youngest ever debutant and he happened to be on the bench when we beat Rovers in the last 16 of the FA Cup last season.
The teenager will join Newcastle’s Academy and will be another one to watch over the coming months and years, joining a host of exciting young talent on Tyneside this summer following the recent moves for CJ Afumuzor (Portsmouth), Aaron Epia (Everton), Ezra Tika-Lemba (West Ham), Kayden Lucas (Clevedon Town) and goalkeeper James Taylor (Hemel Hempstead).

  1. Is it just me or does anybody else not give a **** about this stuff, when our Prem team isn’t making signings?

  2. Think it might be you Freddd we need both sorting and can do both at the same time easily.
We aren’t the only ones having trouble signing people (if you call signing 4players already as having trouble) there has been a lot of international tournaments played this summer and the Olympics has just got started.
Like Flash and Tripps a lot of players have been given extended time off, it’s not ideal as it slows everything down but you just have to get on with it.
I’m sure we’ll have the players needed before the season kicks off but I doubt we will have anyone ready to go straight in to the team you know how Eddie likes to make sure they’re ready.
Back to the young lad couldn’t be happier that we got him, there was a lot of interest in the lad, we just need a coach at u18 and u21 now 😂 and deffo need a change of plan coordinator imo.
