New signing pictured at St James’ Park as record-breaker reacts to Newcastle switch

Pictures have emerged of new signing Rory Finneran at St James’ Park after Newcastle United finalised his arrival from Blackburn Rovers earlier this week.

As we revealed in an NUFC Blog exclusive in May, the club have been working on a deal for the 16-year-old sensation for some time and the final touches were completed this week as the Ireland U17 captain put pen to paper before joining our Academy ranks.

Finneran became Blackburn’s youngest ever player last season at 15 years and 312 days old as he featured in 5-2 win over Cambridge in the FA Cup back in January.

Reacting to the move on his Instagram account, the highly-rated midfielder said: ‘Very excited to sign for Newcastle. Can’t wait to get started and see what the future holds.’

Newcastle held off competition from a number of Premier League and Bundesliga clubs to land Finneran, who is set to link up with the club’s U21s ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. Here’s photos of the youngster at St James’ Park:
