Newcastle in advanced talks to sign striker for £10m + £5m in add-ons

Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of Danish U21 talent William Osula from Sheffield United.

According to The Telegraph and Sky Sports, the club are in ‘advanced talks’ with the Blades and there’s an expectation a deal will be concluded.

Keith Downie reports that a deal could be worth £10m with a further £5m in add-ons, with the 20-year-old likely to join as one for the future behind current forwards Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson.

The Denmark U21 international scored three goals in last season’s FA Cup but didn’t notch in 21 Premier League outings. He is under contract with the South Yorkshire side until 2027.

He has enjoyed a strong start to the pre-season however, with goals against both York City and Chesterfield.

Any move to Tyneside would make him Newcastle’s sixth signing of the season so far, following moves for Odysseas Vlachodimos, Lloyd Kelly, Lewis Hall, John Ruddy and Miodrag Pivaš.

  1. Perfect signing for what would be 3rd choice, has 2 excellent players to learn from and all the time for Eddie to work his magic.
I’m sure there will be loads up in arms but with Isak here and it looking like Wilson staying good luck trying to sign a top 20 goals a season striker that’s willing to play back up.
Not many have a first choice that scores 20+ never mind a 2nd or 3rd choice.I
Get a top RW and a young good RCB and I’ll be happy

  2. Pork pie – couldn’t agree more mate. A max of £15m is no money at all really either.
Great point about learning from Isak & Wilson – both have a different style to their play, so plenty to study – and both are up there with the most clinical finishers in the league.

I’m a big admirer of Jonathan David for example, but coming in at £40m he’d do expected significant game time I reckon – where Osula can develop through this last season of Wilson’s contract and be ready to step up next summer I reckon.

  3. Sharpy17 David is a great shout but he needs to ditch his agent if he wants to move apparently he scuppered a move due to demanding 10m in agent fees
