Paul Mitchell agrees first signing for Newcastle with two more wanted – Report

As revealed by The Telegraph, Newcastle United have now agreed a fee to sign Sheffield United forward William Osula.

Luke Edwards reveals that Paul Mitchell has been pushing to sign the Denmark U21 international and looks set to make the 20-year-old his first signing since becoming the club’s sporting director.

The report states that we’ll pay an initial £10m for the versatile striker – who can also play out wide – with ‘up to £5m’ more coming from add-ons.

It’s believed Newcastle feel he has huge potential and Blades boss’ felt the same, with the Championship club ‘desperate’ to keep a hold of the forward before a deal was eventually agreed.

Mitchell feels Osula will thrive under the coaching of Eddie Howe and is convinced he has what it takes to eventually become a first-choice striker at Premier League level.
The Telegraph report that Toon chiefs are looking for value for money deals and are also eager to reduce the average age of the squad. It’s thought departures are also being worked on before we commit to a big-money buy, with the arrival of a right-sided centre-back an right-winger still on the agenda.

  1. Good signingg got Isak and Wilson to learn from plus Eddie will work his magic once he’s settled

  2. Another player who will be “working on his fitness levels” for the first few months, if he even makes the senior squad.
Anyone else remember “value for money” signings under Ashley? They were called “cheap”.
Now we get “departures are also being worked on before we commit to a big-money buy,” – that used to be called “we have to sell before we can buy!”

  3. The club has to work within the laws that have been put in place to stop us and others catching’The Big Six’.

Once we increase our revenue then we can spend more.

Not the owners fault or the management teams fault.

They obviously don’t want to have the situation to arise again where we have to sell some of our best prospects
