Two new signings start, Bruno captain and 14 absent – Team news vs Yokohama F. Marinos

Newcastle are back in pre-season action tonight, taking on Yokohama F. Marinos at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo following our 4-1 win over Urawa Red Diamonds earlier this week.

Here’s the team Eddie Howe has gone with ahead of the 11am kick-off, where 50,000 fans are expected as we prepare to wear our new Adidas third kit for the very first time:

NUFC XI: Vlachodimos – Livramento, Schar, Kelly, Hall – Longstaff, Bruno (c), Joelinton – Almiron, Isak, Barnes.

SUBS: Pope, Ruddy, Lewis, Krafth, J. Murphy, Ashby, Burn, J. Miley, Turner-Cooke, Heffernan, Sanusi, Harrison, Parkinson.

Five Mags come in for their first start of pre-season, with Lloyd Kelly, Odysseas Vlachodimos, Fabian Schar, Bruno Guimaraes and Miguel Almiron all coming into the side.

Joe Willock is absent (managing minutes?), Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier remain on extended breaks after Euro 2024, Sandro Tonali is ineligible and Wilson (back), L.Miley (foot), Botman (ACL), Lascelles (ACL), Targett (Achilles), Dubravka, Gillespie, A. Murphy (hip), White (back) and Kuol (knee) miss out again.

  • 31st July –  Urawa Red Diamonds 1-4 Newcastle (⚽ Isak, ⚽⚽ Murphy, ⚽ Hall)
  • 3rd August – Yokohama F. Marinos vs Newcastle (11am)
  • 9th August – Newcastle vs Girona (7.30pm )
  • 10th August – Newcastle Women vs AC Milan Women (1pm)
  • 10th August – Newcastle vs Stade Brest (4pm)
