Newcastle ‘close’ to major breakthrough as Crystal Palace receive fourth Marc Guehi bid

Some big claims have arrived this morning on Marc Guehi, with a Friday morning report claiming that a fourth bid has been lodged for the Crystal Palace star.

According to The Mail’s Chief reporter Sami Mokbel – who has been covering the Guehi saga for a few weeks now – Newcastle’s improved offer is closer to Palace’s £65m asking price and could be accepted.

Crucially, he reveals that the Eagles have not immediately dismissed our latest bid, with sources close to the deal believing that a ‘breakthrough is close’ as we continue to pursue the 24-year-old England international.

The value of our fourth bid is not confirmed, but this comes after our third offer – worth £55m plus £5m in add-ons – was rejected by Crystal Palace earlier this week.

After two weeks of talks, bids and frustration for Newcastle fans as we wait for a much needed upgrade, let’s hope this one gets it done and Guehi is on his way to St James’ Park soon.

  1. If we get a FOURTH bid below the asking price knocked back that would be pretty embarrassing.

But it would certainly indicate that we are long overdue walking away.

This is setting the tone for future negotiations here – dig ya heels coz NUFC keep coming back 🙄.

  3. It’s also ridiculous how public this pursuit of Guehi has been!!

We need to find out who is leaking information from the club & boot them out!!

My money will be on the Palace side of things hoping to generate a bidding war.
