Marc Guehi saga takes late twist as Crystal Palace strike £30m deal with Fulham
Newcastle’s pursuit of Marc Guehi has taken another twist as Crystal Palace look set to sell centre-back partner Joachim Andersen.
As revealed by The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Fulham have now reached agreement in principle with Crystal Palace to sign Joachim Andersen for a fee of £30m including add-ons.
Newcastle have been working on a deal for Guehi over the past fortnight, with our last bid thought to be £60m plus £5m in add-ons. However, the fact Andersen looks set to join Fulham could leave our move for Guehi in doubt, as Palace seem unlikely to cash in on both of their first choice centre backs.
Speaking last week, Palace chairman Steve Parish said: “There's been a bit of interest in Joachim as well. Obviously, that's an interesting one because I can't imagine a situation where we would lose both of our centre-halves."
It’s yet to be confirmed, but I’d be surprised if Palace now entertained a deal for Guehi, unless we returned with a mega offer for the England international.
Time to move on and pursue other options?
