Kieran Trippier pushing for exit against Howe’s wishes as four clubs eye late deal – Report

It looks like Kieran Trippier’s time on Tyneside could be coming to an end, with reports today suggesting he plans to leave the club with up to four clubs showing an interest.

According to Craig Hope at The Mail, Atalanta, Galatasaray, West Ham, and now Everton have all shown some interest in taking Tripper away from Newcastle.

Eddie Howe has reportedly told the 33-year-old that he ‘needs him’ to stay, but the right-back has made it clear he now wants a ‘new challenge’ after losing his starting spot to Tino Livramento and seeing Bruno Guimaraes become the club’s team captain, which is said to have ‘upset’ him.

Hope also reports that Amanda Staveley and Dan Ashworth’s departures have helped make Trippier’s mind up, with his piece revealing that both were ‘key allies’ of his following a move from Atletico Madrid in January 2022.

One of the key signings since the Saudi takeover, Trippier has been one of Howe’s most important players, but it looks like the time is up for the England international. Mixed reports suggest he has either one year or two left on his current deal and it isn’t clear if he’ll leave on loan or a permanent deal as he seeks a move before next Friday’s deadline.

Trippier has been a key player since he joined Newcastle United, but it seems like the time has now come for him to start what might be his last chapter.

  1. This really sucks. Can’t blame him though. He should definitely be starting over Tino for his set piece ability alone.

Ah I disagree hugely with that. I want my defenders to be able to defend before the rest. Trippier is very slow now, prone to lapses in concentration and in general is not the player he was.

Tino is already a far superior defender at this stage and on top of that is such an athlete he can carry the ball, powerfully, out from the back and turn defence into attack. Trippier is not that anymore.

Also tonali is a set piece specialist, so let him at it and let our defender be a good defender, instead of a good corner/free kick taker.

  3. I will forever be grateful to Trippier. He’s been brilliant for NUFC – not just on the pitch but the mentality he’s brought to the club.

I wish we’d got him mid to late 20s, but we all knew he probably had only a couple of seasons.

Tino would have learned a lot from him last season, and it’s time to hand the baton on.

  4. Good luck Tripps you helped transform this team from Ashley no hopers into a Champions league outfit. You and Big Dan were magnificent….the toon are heading upwards from your solid foundation you’re a good lad and deserve the recognition for what you did.

  5. Sorry Kieran, but your time is up. Young Tino is showing a lot of promise and has better legs. Dead balls are not just what we require from a DEFENDER. Good luck on your next move and thanks for what you’ve done 👍
