According to reports, a number of Premier League clubs have shown interest in a loan move for Newcastle United left-back Matt Targett.
According to Graeme Bailey, writing for TBR Football, there is interest in Targett from former clubs Fulham and Southampton, while Nottingham Forest and Brentford have also considered moves.
With two years still left on his current deal and Lewis Hall and Lloyd Kelly ahead of the 28-year-old in the pecking order, it makes sense to move him on over the final week of the window.
Signed from Aston Villa for £15 million in 2022, Targett has not only lost his place in our starting 11 but suffered a number of injuries, with a serious hamstring injury in last year’s Carabao Cup win at Man Utd followed by an Achilles issue earlier this year.
After making the bench for last weekend’s 1-0 win over Southampton, Targett most recently appeared alongside Kieran Trippier in the young Magpie’s PL2 fixture against Sunderland on Monday night, where he played 45 minutes in a 1-1 draw.
