Howe asked if signings are coming and reacts to 1-1 draw at Bournemouth
Eddie Howe has "made it clear" that the club are looking to recruit over the final week of the summer transfer window - but insists they have to be the "right players at the right price."
Newcastle struggled in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Bournemouth, with several players looking off the pace before Anthony Gordon's equaliser maintained our unbeaten start to the season in largely unimpressive fashion on the South Coast.
Asked if he's confident we'll make signings over the final five days of the window, Howe said: "I don't know how to answer that. We’re not in control of it. We've made it clear we'd like to add to group. But they have to be the right players at the right price for short and long-term benefit of club."
Reacting to the late drama that saw VAR deny Bournemouth a late winner, he added: "It's a welcome surprise (to have it disallowed) because we weren't appealing so I'd be interested to see the replays.
"We had a VAR decision go against us, this one goes for us. "Bournemouth may have a different viewpoint but I think a draw is a fair result."
On the performance itself he said: "For the first 15 minutes we were the better team and took control of the game, but we lost that control and it was a bitty end to the first half. We improved from the changes and we had a number of chances, where their goalkeeper made some big saves."
