Newcastle launch final Marc Guehi bid as Howe makes transfer plea – Report

According to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, Newcastle have launched one final bid worth £70m for Crystal Palace centr-back Marc Guehi.

With the summer transfer window set to close on Friday night, he reports that Eddie Howe is “pleading” with the powers that be to finally get a deal over the line after repeatedly failing to meet the Eagles’ valuation of the player.

Nixon warns that we are in danger of being ‘timed out’ of the move if things don’t progress quickly, with Oliver Glasner’s squad having already lost Joachim Andersen. Losing both centre-backs would be a blow and tricky for them to replace, leaving them in a tough position after starting the season with back-to-back defeats.
However, it has been previously reported that Palace would cash in if £70m is offered, suggesting this might be enough to tempt them if they have time to replace the 24-year-old.
£70m would feel like an overpay from Newcastle, but we’re in need of reinforcements at this stage of the window and appear desperate for a breakthrough following a host of rejected bids, a three-game ban for Fabian Schar and Sven Botman remaining out after ACL surgery.

  1. Oh good! We found a way to drag this out even longer.
Dear Big Joe, if Geuhi doesn’t arrive, give him one of those coathangers around the neck when we play Palace next.
    Ta.

  2. Howe insistence on guei ..if true.. is worrying when there are many better and cheaper than guei abroad .. Mitchell looks like a clown .. Ashworth must be having a right laugh and Eales ?! Surely PIF must be concerned at what is happening and the drift which looks like it’s affecting the team .. momentum has disappeared since Amanda left

  3. It’s probably down to Eddie and his preference for bottom half EPL teams players.

Worryingly there hasn’t been a single bit of interest from other teams on Guehi cos they know that Palace are shafting us at that price.

Then Eddie will moan he only got one player because he blew it all on an over rated CB.
