Howe's transfer hint when asked if Newcastle can sign a right-winger and centre-back
Eddie Howe has hinted that Newcastle will not be able to sign a right-winger AND centre-back over the final four days of the transfer window - but insists there's still a lot of work behind the scenes to improve the squad.
Signing both has been a top priority heading into the summer, but it seems PSR may impact our ability to pull off two big-money moves this week.
On incomings and outgoings, Howe said: "At the moment, keeping players [this week] is a success, as I sit here today. In terms of incomings, that work's still going on behind the scenes. A few days left, I think everyone's just trying their best to improve the squad. We will wait and see what happens over the next few days. Of course, it only takes one player to make a window a success or failure, however people view it.”
"I think when you look at his performance on Sunday, that was a performance of someone that was focused and ready to help the team, I thought he did - in every aspect. All the subs did. Kieran's experience and know how on the pitch seemed to have a galvanising effect on the group."
