It was a Friday night to remember for Sandro Tonali, who capped off a sensational display on his return to Italy action with a stunning assist.
The Italian’s conceded in the opening minutes of their Nations League clash with France, but won 3-1 as a piece of magic between Tonali and Inter Milan star Federico Dimarco sparked a superb comeback.
Not only did our £55m man produce a brilliant assist (watch below) with a perfectly weighted flick into Dimarco’s path, the Italian was the best player on the pitch and superb from start to finish. He oozed class in possession, never stopped running and showed some impressive bursts of pace too as he played the full 90.

You’d never know he’s been out for 10 months and Italy boss Luciano Spalletti was full of praise for the 24-year-old after th game, declaring “we’ve got a great player back.”
Spalletti said, ““We can say we’ve finally got a magnificent player back, Sandro Tonali. He’s been fantastic. He put in a magnificent performance.
“We were a bit worried he wouldn’t be able to play the full 90 minutes but in the final stages he went on a couple of driving runs and almost got through on goal. We’ve got a great player back.”
What a week for Sandro, who will face Israel on Monday in Italy’s second Nations League game before returning to Tyneside for our Premier League trip to Wolves a week on Sunday.
Brilliant bit of Skill from Sandro plus quick thinking–pass of the season already.

That was quality from Tonali, if only we gave him the chance to do that kind of stuff for us.
