Not content with just stinking out the Premier League in a footballing sense, Man Utd’s ripe rotten odour could be smelt nationwide yesterday as they announced a £113.2m loss for last season, bringing total losses across their last three-year rolling accounting period to £254.7m.
The ‘eagle eyed’ amongst you will have noted that the total loss figure dwarfs the Premier Leagues PSR limit of £105m losses by an eye watering £154.7m. Yet, don’t expect them to be deducted any points.
Chief Sportswriter for The Times, Martin Ziegler, tweeted:
’Man Utd insist they will comply with PSR limit of £105m losses over three years, but will need to claim significant exemptions. Three-year loss is £254.7m – much the same as Everton’s £257m for the three years ending June 2023 which led to a points deduction.’
‘Significant exemptions’ being the key phrase here as they are completely legal in the Premier Leagues financial rulebook, covering infrastructure projects, women’s team, youth teams, and community projects.
However, considering Old Trafford leaks, and they kicked the women’s team out of their purpose-built training ground in favour of the men’s team – it is difficult to see just where these ‘significant exemptions’ totalling £150m will come from…
The average football fan will rightly look at this nonsense and cry foul of a financial rulebook which is heavily skewed towards a handful of teams. It stinks, thankfully, Man Utd continue to be an absolute clown show on the pitch.
The bias becomes more blatant and what of the puppet-Masters?

This isn’t new news. They were allowed COVID exemptions and Takeover exemptions. The levels to which they were allowed these is corruption to the core when compared with other clubs.

It seems that Newcastle fans are not happy unless they are having a ***** about how the entire world hates us.

Byker Bill :-
We have SOME who are envious of our perceived wealth, and those same entities have done everything in their power to prevent us from using it with ill conceived changes rushed through at break neck speed.
I don’t think anyone has a problem with that, if it is on a level playing field.
When you look how Chelsea sold a hotel to themselves and this Man Utd episode it is clear that the Football Association are prepared to turn a blind eye towards the corruption that is happening the protracted challenge to Man City’s “wrong doings”and in general the Big 6.
It is the blatant bias that annoys clubs like Aston Villa, Newcastle who could possibly challenge that cartel.
Everyone it would appear bar the FA governance would like to see changes along with proper competition for the Big 6.

That entitlement is exactly why fans from so many teams hate your team. That and the bias it always has had, and the thick headed glory hunters from all over who wear manure shirts, when coming from Devon, Scotland, I would put money on that you are from Wales, rather then Manchester

There’s a difference between a clubs accounts and PSR. They’re completely different.
As an example:
If Man Utd bought a player for 80m and paid the other club the entire amount then the accounts for that year would indicate an 80m expenditure.
For PSR, the amount paid on the accounts is not relevant. It simply takes the transfer fee and divides by contract length. 5 year contract then that years PSR account will say 16m expenditure. There’s lot of other differences too. Club accounts shouldn’t be conflated.

I was just reading of the start of the trial between the Premier League and Manchester City. Man City are the only one of the traditional, top 5 or 6 hierarchy that I quite like! Often I think, well if my own team can’t win the title then thank God City are winning it every year because teams like Manchester United and Chelsea would be insufferable if they got the upper hand! It feels like yet more rigging and subtle corruption going on by some Premier League teams here.
In my opinion, Chelsea are the team that should be forcibly relegated a division because they’re the absolute worst when it comes to spending on players. They’re like the GQ magazine of football: fashionable, attractive, ritzy, boring and annoying!
As we’re well aware, there has also been blatant rigging within the oxymoron of “Fair Play Rules” against teams like Newcastle and Villa, any team threatening the existing top tier. As of course a Toon fan, I don’t actually want my own club to be able to buy whichever player they like, but more loosening of the leash might be nice.
Those other than Man City, I can see being irked that City win the title year after year, and it feels like some manipulation is going on in secret. Anyway, just saying!

Just jealous of a much bigger club that even though they have been run by a bunch of muppets will always be bigger than a every other club in Britain. They don’t make the rules

There was a young Man U fan who was a customer at a job I had a few years ago, and when they had a poor season he told me he’d lost interest. Imagine hypothetically your team finished 14th, If any fan of a top five team gave up interest then you’re not following football for the right reasons. A Chelsea fan neighbour right now is the same way. I was proud to wear a Toon shirt in the pub when we were close to the old 3rd Division just before Keegan saved us (forever ago)! Anyway, enough already.
