Newcastle preparing £9m offer to avoid losing star man next summer – Report

As reported by The Mail, Newcastle United are preparing to offer Anthony Gordon a lucrative new deal worth £9m per year.

Sami Mokbel reveals that this would make Gordon the highest earner at the club should he accept that offer, eclipsing Bruno Guimaraes following his extension earlier this year.

Gordon signed for the Magpies back in January 2023 for around £45m from Everton which did raise a few eyebrows at the time, but he’s more than proved his worth under Eddie Howe.

During his 20 months here, the winger has gone from strength to strength and has now established himself in the England and is attracting interest from Champions League clubs.

The big concern for Newcastle is that his deal is set to expire in 2026, meaning we could be at risk of losing him for less than his true value if we do not get him a new deal relatively quickly.

Should he turn down the £9m deal, Mokbel states that there’s a very really possibility the club will be looking to move him on next summer, showing the importance of this contract negotiation for Darren Eales and Paul Mitchell.

  1. I actually feel pretty calm about Gordon’s situation, the best outcome without a doubt is him staying but if he wants out then having Harvey Barnes as a more than adequate replacement makes it less of a disaster.
If Isak goes that’s a totally different kettle of fish.

  2. Why don’t the PIF issue a statement in support of Howes relationship with Mitchell in an attempt to quell the wannabe reporter’s who are stearing the pot , PIF have got to take a leadership role before the apparent rocky relationship effects the team. I’m tired of reading about Howe / Mitchell let’s talk some positive , informative things .
