The team sheets are in at St James’ Park ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup clash with Wimbledon, where Newcastle have the opportunity to set up a fourth round tie with Chelsea should we win.
Here’s the side Eddie Howe has gone with:
STARTING XI: Dubravka – Livramento, Krafth, Schar, Kelly – Longstaff, Joelinton, Willock – Almiron, Osula, Barnes.
SUBS: Vlachodimos, Ruddy, Tonali, Gordon, Hall, J.Murphy, Burn, A.Murphy, Guimaraes.
Howe has made EIGHT changes from Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Man City, with Will Osula, Miguel Almiron, Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff, Tino Livramento, Lloyd Kelly, Emil Krafth and Martin Dubravka all coming into the side.
It’s Osula’s first competitive start for the club and a big chance to impress for the 6ft 4′ Dane following his £10m move from Sheffield United a few months ago.
Odysseas Vlachodimos is named in a matchday squad for the first time this season, while big hitters like Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes also make the bench.
As expected, Alexander Isak (toe) misses out along with Callum Wilson (back/hamstring), Lewis Miley (foot), Sven Botman (ACL), Jamaal Lascelles (ACL) and Matt Targett (eczema). Kieran Trippier misses out, but hopefully just as a precaution after he came off with a niggle last weekend.
Howay the lads!
