Premier League football is back at St James’ Park and it’s time to predict which 11 Eddie Howe will go with ahead of today’s 3pm clash between Newcastle and Brighton.
Here’s who we’re expecting to see and why:
Predicted XI: Pope – Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall – Tonali, Bruno, Joelinton – Gordon, Isak, Barnes.
With no new injuries to report over the break, Alexander Isak back from a broken toe and Kieran Trippier ruled out, the team may pick itself for this one, seeing Tino Livramento return at right-back and Jacob Murphy drop out of the side after his poor display at Everton.
It’ll be interesting to see who starts down the left if Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes both start, while that left-sided midfield spot – currently occupied by Joelinton – could be one to watch now Joe Willock is fit again.
However, as Joelinton tends to up his game at home and has also had 10 days on the training ground with Howe, I think he’ll get the nod again.
How do you see us lining up for today’s game? Comment below with the Newcastle XI you’re hoping to see when the team sheets come out at 1.45pm…
With Joe Willock returning to full fitness, it will be intriguing to see who begins on the left flank if Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon both play. Meanwhile, the left wing-back position may be one to watch.
