Premier League make decision on Saudi takeover after Amanda Staveley leak – Report

As reported by Craig Hope at The Mail, the Premier League are not revisiting the legality of Newcastle’s Saudi-backed takeover after WhatsApp messages regarding the sale were recently leaked.

It’s believed messages from Amanda Staveley proved that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had been heavily involved in the takeover bid despite assurances that Saudi Arabia would not control Newcastle.

Staveley’s texts showed, at the time, that ‘The Crown Prince is losing patience’ and our now chairman, Yassir Al-Rumayyan, was doing his best to convince him not to pull out.

Of course that sparked outrage amongst other Premier League fans who have been questioning whether PIF was actually separate to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

However, thankfully for Newcastle, it looks like there won’t be any repercussions following this revelation and we can continue on the long-term project we began just over three years ago.

As we know, a £305m deal was struck between Mike Ashley , PIF, PCP and the Reuben Brothers back in October 2021, although Amanda Staveley’s 10% stake has now been divided between the remaining shareholders following her surprise departure over the summer.
