Eddie Howe believes our 1-0 victory over Arsenal is “massive” and a return to the sort of spirit and organisation that we saw regularly two seasons.
Speaking to TNT’s Geordie presenter Lynsey Hipgrave, Joe Cole and Martin Keown just moments after the game, Howe paid tribute to several players, hailing a number of “selfless” players who covered so much ground to help their teammates and protect our lead.
The boss praised Gordon and Joelinton’s work rate down the flanks and superb defensive displays from Livramento and Hall; who didn’t give Martinelli and Saka a sniff.
Speaking directly to Keown, Howe feels our latest win over Arteta’s Arsenal “shows our quality”, although his challenge now is to show that on a more consistent basis.
Watch everything he had to say below after our second win in the space of four days at St James’ Park:
“It’s great to win 1-0 and keep a clean sheet. If you can’t play brilliant attacking football you need to find different ways to win.” 💪

Hats off to Howe. He won’t take credit, but he’s got it bang on this week with his team selection and tactics, responding to last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at Chelsea with two massive wins.
Eddie always speaks well, on top of his other and obvious qualities. We’re lucky to have him, for our number 2 choice!
