Newcastle United are reportedly among the clubs eyeing West Brom star Tom Fellows ahead of the January transfer window.
The Sun’s Alan Nixon has name-dropped the Magpies as one of five Premier League sides tracking the right-winger, with Newcastle sending scouts to watch the wide man along with officials from Everton, Crystal Palace, Southampton, and Ipswich Town.
Fellows fits Howe’s mantra of bringing in players who are young and English, but it remains to be seen if the club will look to bring in a proven right-winger for big money – Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo has bee strongly linked in recent weeks – or another ‘project player’ who can grow into the role; much like Lewis Hall has at left-back.
The 21-year-old has five assists in 10 Championship starts this season and was called up to the England Under-21 side for the first time in early September, where he scored in a 4-1 friendly win over Austria
“I know the call came a bit late, but it was good just to even be drafted in and be in the camp with all those players,” Fellows told Sky Sports last month.
“A lot of them are playing at really high levels, so to have the whole week among them and to learn bits from them and see what areas I need to improve was really enjoyable. Obviously it was a bit nerve-racking at first but it was a great experience.”
