Following a summer move to St James’ Park, exciting Under-15 recruit Jayden Kouossu has made an impressive start to life on Tyneside and appeared as a ball boy in our victory against Arsenal last weekend.
Although his switch from West Brom was never officially announced by the club, Kouossu posted a photo of him on the sidelines during last weekend’s 1-0 win over the Gunners.
After doing some digging on his performances so far within our Academy, it’s emerged that the young midfielder has made a brilliant start, weighing in with four goals – two braces – and two assists in just two U15 games against Hull and Middlesbrough.
It’s still very early days for Kouossu, but the 14-year-old was highly-rated at the time of his arrival and appears to have a very bright future in the game.
Hopefully he can develop his game further in the coming years on Tyneside, with recent recruits Trevan Sanusi and Leo Shahar already moving from U18 level to U21s, training with the first-team on occasion and representing England at youth level since they arrived at the club 18 months ago.
Newcastle are clearly working very hard behind the scenes to find exciting young talents and although fans may be frustrated with a lack of activity in the first-team, these hidden additions will be massive for the future of our squad.
The club have recruited a number of U16 talents since new owners arrived, with Sam Alabi, Michael Mills, Jayden Kouossu, CJ Afumuzor, Kacey Wooster, Les Yeutembip, Leon Mukumbira, Aaron Epia and Sammy Pinnington all arriving after impressing on the domestic youth scene.
