Alexander Isak at it again! - Scores and assists against Newcastle teammate on Saturday night

Alexander Isak has scored once again for the Swedish national team, as the Scandinavians defeated Martin Dubravka’s Slovakia 2-1 in the UFA Nations League last night.

Our number 14 also assisted Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres to open the scoring before David Hancko equalised for the visitors to make it 1-1 at half time.

But shortly after play resumed, a great run from Ken Sema and quick pass from Gyokeres found Isak. He still had plenty to do, but some quick feet and a powerful strike from close range was enough to smash past his club mate, meaning Isak's now scored in five consecutive games for club add country.

The victory means that Sweden have now been promoted to the Nations League B, bouncing straight back up from their relegation suffered during the previous campaign.

Isak meanwhile now sits at 15 goals for his country’s senior side, and is helping make Sweden an ominous team to play against with World Cup Qualifiers on the horizon. The 25-year-old finally looks fit and back to his brilliant best after a tricky start to the campaign.

Since the start of last season, only the trio of Erling Haaland, Mo Salah and Cole Palmer have scored as many league goals than Isak. With no international fixtures to play until March, Newcastle fans will hope he can stay injury free and continue this fine form in the Premier League.
