According to The Telegraph, Leicester City look set to appoint Ruud van Nistelrooy as their new head coach, with former Newcastle coach Ben Dawson due to be replaced just days after he was made caretaker manager following the sacking of Steve Cooper.
Dawson, who was previously our Under-21s boss and spent over a decade at the club, may be handed the chance to manage his first ever Premier League match this weekend, when Leicester travel to Brentford, but his long-term future with the Foxes appears to be in doubt just months after his arrival.
It remains to be seen if the 43-year-old coach will remain at the King Power Stadium or if van Nistelrooy will be looking to bring in his own backroom staff as he takes on a new challenge shortly after leaving Man United as their interim manager.
After several years on Tyneside working as a first team coach, managing the U21s and working in a technical role within our Academy, Dawson departed over the summer to join Steve Cooper’s coaching staff at Leicester. But, just a few months later, he may well be replaced and on the lookout for another job should van Nistelrooy bring in his own staff.
It will be an interesting task for the Dutchman and Newcastle will be one of the first clubs he takes on, with the Foxes travelling to St James’ Park on Saturday December 14th.
On paper, it looks like it should be a routine win for us, but as we’ve learned from the West Ham defeat on Monday, we simply cannot afford to take these games for granted and must make sure our intensity remains at the same level regardless of the opponent.
Who knows what’s next for Dawson, who may be wishing he’d stayed in his role on Tyneside at this rate!
I think there’s a good chance he’ll still be there if there wasn’t he would have had his marching orders when Cooper and the rest did.
Not really a fan of snide digs at people who served our club well.
